16/8/11: Ansmann's Got Talent - the Ansmann Racing Team led by Stu Wood will be holding a free race day at EPR on 25 September where potential team drivers can come and see the products and show off their talent in front of the Ansmann hierarchy. Drivers who are interested in becoming part of the team just need to come along with their own equipment or if you are moving across from another class like 1:8 off-road, then just bring a transmitter/receiver and Ansmann will hook you up with an RTR car to use.
The basis of the relaxing day will see four rounds of qualifying starting around 10am and then finals. The emphasis is on having a great day, hence the free entry. One heat will be made of existing team drivers and Ansmann employees from the UK to show off the products going round the track. During the day, Stu Wood along with Shaun Collins will watch the racing and also the way drivers act on and off the track. They will walk round the pits and talk to people and ask lots of questions. At the end of the day, they will announce who they would like to join the Team for 2012 and also give away an Ansmann race kit to the person they feel deserves it the most. The representatives from Ansmann have made it clear that they are not just looking for the best drivers, but ones that will represent the brand correctly. The Ansmann gazebo will get set-up trackside to show off the all of the latest products. Ansmann is hoping that this will turn into a yearly event to promote the brand. 4/5/11: TLR Super Cup - We will be hosting a two-day meeting on 25-26 June called the TLR Super Cup. Although the organisers aim to attract top drivers from around Europe, it is hoped that the TLR Super Cup in association with Spektrum and Electrix will appeal to local drivers as well. The format sees a change to the norm with racing on both days for each class. On Saturday there will be two practices and three qualifiers, with a short practice, two qualifiers and multi-leg finals on Sunday. Qualifying will use the FTD format and there will be three legs for the A finals in 2WD, 4WD and Short Course with two legs for the other finals. Awards will be presented to the podium finishers in 2WD, 4WD and SC as well as the top three in U14 and U19 classes. There will also be a concourse competition prize kindly donated by RudeBits.
Entry fees are £15 per class with a limit of 160 in total split across the three classes. Tyres are open but in SC drivers will be limited to standard wheels and tyres (ie no 1:8 tyres). Booking in is via www.centralbooking.org - click on the respective banner at the top of the page to enter each class. There is a maximum of two classes per entrant with each driver receiving a complimentary pack of goodies at booking in. Camping on Friday and Saturday night will be allowed which should really help to make the event fun and family orientated.
